Speak About Your Own Experience Surviving Interpersonal Violence

We are seeking survivors of violence to share their stories anonymously in print/digital form or in person for the 2016 Interpersonal Violence Conference. This annual conference will be on Saturday, November 5, 2015 at the UCSF Parnassus campus. This conference brings together health profession students, health care professionals, and experts from the community to create a dialogue around issues and intersections of interpersonal violence. Through this conference, we hope to enable providers to better discuss these sensitive issues, support and empower patients who have been affected by violence, and become advocates for change.

As part of the conference, we are seeking personal (anonymous) stories from students, staff and faculty who have experienced violence (emotional, physical, sexual or other) involving an intimate partner, a family member, date, friend, or other person. These stories will be collected anonymously and will be included in displays on campus and on the conference website, which will increase awareness of how violence affects our UCSF community. Submit your written story anonymously at the following link no later than October 28th: https://goo.gl/forms/fBumQOboU5mwRHeh1.

We are also seeking survivors of violence, abuse or sexual assault to share their stories in person on the Survivor Panel.* On this panel, 3-4 student/staff/faculty speakers share their experiences with conference attendees at the end of the conference. This is described by the student participants as the most powerful and helpful event of the day. If you are considering speaking on the panel or have further questions, please contact me or our faculty advisor, Leigh Kimberg, no later than October 28th and we can talk about whether this is something you might be interested in:
