16th Annual Interpersonal Violence Prevention Conference

Students for the Prevention of Violence presents Healing Trauma: Promoting Resilience to Address Systems of Violence

November 5th, 2016
8:30-5:30pm
UCSF Medical Sciences Building, 513 Parnassus

Please consider joining us to learn about and enrich our discussion on the interconnectedness and impact of multiple forms of violence on patients, how different kinds of trauma affect our patients and their communities, and how we can transform our care to promote healing and resiliency.

Topics to be addressed by experts from the health professions and community organizations include:

  • Structural violence
  • Sexual violence
  • Community violence
  • Violence in LGBTQI communities
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Violence in homeless communities
  • Race-based violence
  • Intimate partner violence
  • Child abuse
  • Resiliency-based interventions

This conference, which was formerly known as the Domestic Violence Conference, is an inter-professional effort, including the schools of medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy and physical therapy.

This conference is critical in training current and future practitioners to address abuse and trauma with patients, support survivors, and advocate for violence prevention. Attendees will be given the unique opportunity to interact and network with specialists from a range of disciplines through small breakout sessions, provider trainings, and panel discussions featuring community professionals and survivors.
